The Next Generation Project's National Assembly was held at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars on June 5-7, 2008 in Washington, DC. The event was co-sponsored by the Wilson Center, led by President and Director, Lee H. Hamilton. The first four regional Assemblies of the project focused on the challenges and opportunities the United States and the world will face in the years to come, assessed whether the current national security, multilateral, and international institutions are sufficient for the future, and explored innovative organizational responses to an era of rapid globalization. Building upon the work of these earlier meetings, the National Assembly was scheduled to coincide with the run-up to the presidential election to assure that the findings and recommendations will be presented to the candidates and their advisors.
